KONE obtained Grade A Performance in 2016 Climate Change Report

Released on:2016-10-25

As a leader in the global elevator and escalator industry, KONE is also a world leader in the actions and strategies to address the climate change. Recently, KONE was awarded Class A Climate Performance Award by CDP, an international non-profit organization that promotes sustainable economic development.

In 2016, KONE was rated A-level performance for the second time. According to the CDP's independent evaluation method, only 193 companies stood out from the thousands of companies and achieved A-level performance. KONE is one of them. KONE’s performance has steadily improved for seven consecutive years.

The A-level climate performance list includes global leaders that have responded to climate change with their own efforts and actions in the past year, as well as leading companies in transition to a low-carbon economy, providing standards for companies' climate action.

“We are deeply honored by the CDP's awarding of Class A climate performance for two consecutive years. KONE is committed to becoming a leader in sustainable development in the industry, and this achievement is a confirmation of our constant commitment to excellence in the environment.” said Hanna Uusitalo, Director of Environmental Affairs at KONE.

CDP is an international non-profit organization that provides companies and cities with systems for measuring, disclosing, managing, and sharing important environmental information. CDP already has the world's largest information database on climate change, water and forest risks, and applies these to the core of strategic business investment and policy decisions. Currently, it has cooperated with various companies, including 827 institutional investors with global asset management totaling $100 trillion, to encourage companies to take active actions in reducing the impact of their operations on the environment and natural resources.
